It Takes A Village
What is multidisciplinary care?
When you are facing a cancer diagnosis, it is nice to know that you are not alone.
Here at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, you will be surrounded by a team of warm and compassionate medical experts who will answer your questions, help you make decisions about your next steps, as well as understand and address your fears.
It is this comprehensive care for patients that sets the James Graham Brown Cancer Center apart.
We embrace the team-focused care approach that combines the expertise of multidisciplinary teams of physicians, nurses and other care providers.
Your treatment plan is going to be created and administered by some of the best and brightest doctors, nurses and other specialists from this area and around the world. The JGBCC specialists include hematologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, gynecological oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, psychiatrists, psychologists and others.
All these medical sub-specialists are ably supported with nurse navigators, social workers and other support services.
We’re Here For You Every Step of the Way…
One of the first people who will greet you is your Patient Navigator.
The primary role of the patient navigator is to greet new patients and explain to you how the James Graham Brown Cancer Center works, make you feel comfortable and help you understand what will happen next. To learn more about the Patient Navigator, click here.
Another important person in your individualized treatment plan is your Nurse Navigator.
The nurse navigator is often your first contact and will be in touch with you even before you arrive. The nurse navigator helps you manage your care process – from diagnosis through treatment, to even the post-recovery phase – and serves as your “dot connector” for ongoing care.
